Each year the IAPA offers scholarships to news men and women from Latin America, the Caribbean and North America for postgraduate study consisting of a stipend and airfare from his or her country of origin. The scholarships are funded by voluntary contributions from IAPA member newspapers or independent donors.

In addition to the recipient of The Wall Street Journal/IAPA scholarship one month ago the IAPA also had announced the names of three other journalists to receive scholarships – Alejandro Fernández Sanabria of San José, Costa Rica; Luis Alberto Velarde Vargas of La Paz, Bolivia, and Raegen Michelle Rogers of Midland, Texas.
