MIAMI, Florida (January 10, 2013)—The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) today announced that it is extending to February 15 this year the deadline for practicing journalists and final-year journalism students to apply for scholarships that provide financial assistance for one academic year at universities in Latin America, the Caribbean and North America
The scholarships are worth $20,000 each and have a basic requirement that the applicant be aged between 21 and 35, is fluent in English for study in the United States or Canada or in Spanish if those concerned are from North America going to Latin America.
The scholarship recipients will be chosen during the Midyear Meeting that the IAPA is to hold in April in Cádiz, Spain.
“We invite young news men and women to present their application and take advantage of this opportunity to broaden their knowledge,” said Scholarship Fund Board of Governors President Gerardo García Gamboa, Novedades de Quintana Roo, Mérida, Mexico.
