HONDURAS Some journalists have been threatened or intimidated after criticizing the armed forces. The government has not intervened. No journalist has been jailed or prosecuted or any media rights violated in Honduras since the Inter American Press Association Midyear Meeting, Edgardo Dumas Rodriguez, of La Tribuna, San Pedro Sula, reported. Self-censorship and government pressure on the media exist. In Las Vegas, Santa Barbara province, the mayor threw out of his home Jesus Rosales, a local radio newscaster. Rosales has been awaiting for more than two months a dedsion on his appeal to the courts in Tegucigalpa. A Journalists Colegio exists en Honduras.
