MEXICO II WHEREAS three journalists were murdered in Mexico in the first 10 months of 1998 and the number of others who have been assaulted or intimidated is on the increase this year this brings to 26 the number of journalists murdered this decade, plus one journalist who has disappeared, with the perpetrators and those behind the crimes in almost every case continuing to go unpunished THE IAPA GENERAL ASSEMBLY RESOLVES to strongly repudiate the murders and the intimidation and attacks to which media and individual journalists have been subjected, and to call for action by the authorities to put an end to the climate of harassment of journalists reigning in the country to write to President Ernesto Zedillo and the state governors of Guerrero and Chihuahua and the mayor of Mexico City, where the latest three murders occurred, calling for these cases to be solved and their perpetrators brought to justice, and to ask the authorities to investigate those crimes committed previously against journalists and that they proceed to arrest those responsible and bring them to trial
