members of the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador are debating a new Penal Procedural Code that includes provisions limiting freedom of expression and the associated freedom to seek out, receive and transmit information and ideas the proposed reforms include a penalty for damages against all media in El Salvador that provide information on people and events under investigation during the most important stages of the process
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE IAPA RESOLVES
to ask the deputies of the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador to reject any limitation on the freedom of expression such as those included in the Penal Procedural Code bill currently being debated.
