WHEREAS
in Costa Rica a law exists that requires licensing of journalists, which is contrary to the lnter-American
Declaration on Human Rights the Journalist Colegio is now endeavoring to give the concept of obligatory colegio membership constitutional status there are journalists who, on the other hand, have demanded that such licensing of journalists be declared unconstitutional
THE 50TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE lAPA RESOLVES
to express its solidarity with those who are acting to bring an end to the licensing of journalists to urge the Costa Rican judicial, legislative and executive authorities to bow to the advisary opinion of the lnter-American Court on Human Rights, opposing obligatary colegio membership for journalists.
