The scholarship I received from the Inter American Press Association was used to fi nance my graduate studies at the University of Maryland. Because of it I had relative tranquility while I was working on an MA in journalism at the university. Shortly after graduating I got a job at The Dallas Morning News, working on its new Spanish-language publication, Al Dia, where I still work as presentation and lifestyles editor.
