Miami (October 10, 2014)—The 70th General Assembly of the Inter American Press Association (IAPA), to be held October 17-21, 2014 in Santiago, Chile, will offer a series of technical seminars on digital trends and technological advances applicable to the news industry, with speakers from Europe, the United States and Latin America.
During the seminars the focus will be on the smart phones’ revolution and their importance today, and the keys to link with local audiences. Also to be presented are real cases of success in the creation of audiences, their analysis and the continuity of the new trends in advertising, and monetization of videos, pointing out the effective models to make the digital channel more profitable.
The series of seminars includes: “Keys to link with local audiences,” dealing with the impact of new technologies on audiences and social media; “Successful projects in regional newspapers”, on successful journalistic experiences in development on a local and regional scale; “Successful editorial projects in the generation of new audiences”, dealing with achievements by media that knew how to find readership niches and increase their audience.
Also to be included: “Organizing editorial management in difficult times: The challenge of quality and efficiency”, regarding the loss of readers and need to optimize editorial efforts; “From digital to mobile” will present the smart phone as the information medium with most potential at this time, and “More readers or better readers?” on how to make the news product attractive.
Also scheduled are roundtable discussions on “Responsibility and editorial standards as a counterbalance to freedom of expression” and “Young people and the new tools for communication and investigative reporting”.
There will also be a presentation on an annual study regarding digital strategies and online advertising.
