Representatives of international organizations met with Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS). At the meeting held on February 26 in the US capital they addressed issues related to the situation of press freedom in the Western Hemisphere, particularly in Ecuador.
The meeting, led by IAPA president, Pierre Manigualt, of The Post and Courier, Charleston, South Carolina, is an initiative of the Plan of Action of Quito, written during the Forum for Freedom of Expression held in September 2015 in Ecuador. The document has as its main objective to support press freedom in the South American country.
