IAPA announces new officers for 2016-2017
Matthew Sanders, Deseret Digital Media, Utah, is the new president of the organization
Miami (Oct. 18, 2016) .- The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) announced its new officers for the period 2016-2017, elected during the 72nd General Assembly that concluded on Monday in Mexico City, Mexico.
Senior director and general manager of Deseret Digital Media, Salt Lake City, Utah, Matthew Sanders, replaced Pierre Manigault, The Post and Courier, Charleston, South Carolina in the IAPA presidency. The honorary president of the organization is Scott Schurz, Herald-Times of Bloomington, Indiana, USA
Sanders leads the digital innovation in Deseret Digital Media. He is the first president of the IAPA belonging to an unprinted paper medium. The company DDM consists of a network of partners in 50 states in the US and 50 countries which have generated more than 75,000 articles and more than one billion page views in its websites.
The new president of the IAPA speaks English and Spanish. He graduated with honors in economics from Brigham Young University and has a master's degree in public policy from Harvard University. He has also studied in Paris, France; Washington. D.C. and in Jerusalem, Israel.

The Chair of the Executive Committee is Jorge Canahuati, OPSA, Tegucigalpa, Honduras and the Vice Chair is Pierre Manigault.
The Scholarship Fund Board of Governors is chair by María Catalina Saieh, Copesa, Santiago, Chile and the Vice Chairs are Pamela Howard, Scripps Howard Foundation, Cincinatti, Ohio and Ernesto Kraiselburd, El Día, La Plata, Argentina. Shida Bolai, Caribbean Telecommnication Network, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago is the Secretary of the board and its Treasurer is Idelfonso Chávez, El Pueblo de Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico. IAPA Executive Director, Ricardo Trotti is also member of this board.
