Inter American Press Association (IAPA) announces press conference at NPC in D.C.

Miami (July 14, 2010) – Inter American Press Association (IAPA) officers have called a press conference at the National Press Club (NPC) in Washington to discuss the major obstacles impacting press freedom throughout the hemisphere, how they affect inter-American politics and what corrective measures should be adopted.

It is set for Friday, July 16th at 12:30 p.m. in the First Amendment Salon, National Press Club 

Miami (July 14, 2010) – Inter American Press Association (IAPA) officers have called a press conference at the National Press Club (NPC) in Washington to discuss the major obstacles impacting press freedom throughout the hemisphere, how they affect inter-American politics and what corrective measures should be adopted. 

Speaking for the organization will be IAPA President, Alejandro Aguirre (Diario Las Américas, Miami), First Vice President Gonzalo Marroquin (Prensa Libre, Guatemala) and Second Vice President Milton Coleman (The Washington Post). The conference is scheduled for  Friday at 12:30 p.m. in the First Amendment room of the NPC. 

IAPA officers and directors are holding their annual Executive Committee meeting Friday in the capital. On the agenda in addition to organizations business are interviews with Congressmen Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and eliot Engel. On Thursday a delegation from the IAPA will visit the Inter American Commission for Human Rights. 

The IAPA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the defense and promotion of freedom of the press and of expression in the Americas.
