Aruba & Netherlands Antilles

No relevant events were noted against freedom of the press in this period during which Michiel G. Eman assumed the position of Prime Minister in October, 2009. Statements made by the Prime Minister of the Dutch Antilles, Emily de Jongh-Elhange before the Assembly of the IAPA caused great concern. The Prime Minister said that there should be a law in the Netherlands Antilles to regulate the “excesses” and the licentiousness of the communications media and that a code of ethics needs to be created.
