After a year at Columbia University she worked on a variety of publications in her native Chile, and also taught journalism at the Universidad de Chile. She was press and cultural attache at the Embassy of Chile in Australia. She wrote: “The contact with American style journalism at a high academic level allowed me to develop a wider and more comprehensive outlook of our profession. Women have different ways of seeing things and different techniques are blended into your own national experience. The result can be very stimulating. Besides, the world being what it is, women have to try twice as hard. The halo of an IAPA scholarship has certainly been a great help.”
