April 4 - 7, 2014
WHEREAS the government of Bolivia is continuing to block access to information regarding certain matters of public interest
WHEREAS the government of Bolivia is pressuring independent media outlets to disseminate, free of charge, campaigns and messages in support of its plans
THE IAPA RESOLVES
To request that the Bolivian legislature pass the Law on Transparency and Access to Information, fully removing the exceptions that allow for the assumption that this law would have an effect contrary to its purpose related to awareness of certain matters of public interest
To request that the government of Bolivia and the corresponding entities, such as the Supreme Electoral Court, refrain from any and all censorship of media outlets during the upcoming electoral campaign
That the government suspend the requirement that independent media outlets disseminate, free of charge, its campaigns and messages, due to the financially onerous nature of such a requirement
