The arrest of a journalist in Curacao has caused concern in journalistic fields.
A police officer arrested a photojournalist while performing his job photographing an event, and had earlier tried to take his camera and remove the film. As he refused, the journalist was taken to police headquarters. All media owners, journalists and photographers joined in a general protest against the government. The Minister of Justice ordered his immediate release and presented an apology. The press in general did not expect the government to apologize, but the policeman, who emphatically denied, but acknowledged that it was not for arresting the journalist. The officer was not sanctioned in any way.
