Miami (February 18, 2022) - The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) announced today that its mid-year meeting would take place virtually on April 19-21. It will focus on reviewing the performance of press freedom in the Americas over the past six months.
Through a format of thematic panels on April 19, IAPA regional vice persons will present their country reports for discussion and approval on the last day of the meeting. Also organized for April 20 are roundtable discussions on the relationship between media sustainability and press freedom.
As part of the three-day meeting, the IAPA will present at a special ceremony the Chapultepec Grand Prize 2022, which, since 2008, has awarded individuals or organizations in recognition of their outstanding defense and promotion of press freedom. The awardee will soon be announced.
IAPA is a non-profit organization dedicated to defending and promoting freedom of the press and expression in the Americas. It comprises more than 1,300 publications from the western hemisphere; and is based in Miami, Florida, United States.
