WHEREAS, the president's personal entourage has physically assaulted reporters at public events
WHEREAS, the government has threatened journalists with lawsuits because they investigate acts of corruption
WHEREAS, the Principle 3 of the Chapultepec Declaration states: "The authorities should be legally bound to make available to citizens, in a timely and equitable manner, the information generated by the public sector."
THE 78TH IAPA GENERAL ASSEMBLY RESOLVES
To condemn the government of Pedro Castillo for its treatment of journalists and the work of the press, and for not fully respecting the freedoms of expression and press
To request the government to refrain from presenting bills detrimental to freedom of the press
To recommend that President Castillo inform the press about his government's activities.
