Miami (March 22, 2010) – The Scholarship Fund Board of Governors of the Inter American Press Association (IAPA) has selected this year’s scholarship winners during the Midyear Meeting in Aruba, on March 19 -22, 2010.
The scholarship winners are Taylor Katelyn Barnes, of Providence, R.I., Cesar Vangelios Noriega Ramos, of Caracas, Venezuela, and Monica Maria Quesada Cordero, of Heredia, Costa Rica.
Each year the IAPA offers scholarships for journalists in Latin America and the Caribbean to study in the United States, and for journalists in the United States and Canada to study in Latin America. The scholarship includes financial aid and travel expenses. Funding for these scholarships has been provided by special contributions from IAPA newspaper members.
Jayme Sirotsky, Chairman of the Board of Governors, from RBS Porto Alegre, Brazil, and Treasurer Silvia Miró Quesada, from El Comercio, Lima, Perú, confirmed the names of the scholarship winners during a special meeting of the IAPA Scholarship Fund Board of Governors in Oranjestad, Aruba.
