WHEREAS
Congress is considering a bill that would amend four articles of the Constitution in order to confront terrorism and that would prohibit the media from disclosing the identity of detained people during the first 72 hours without a court order

Principle 5 of the Declaration of Chapultepec declares: Prior censorship, restrictions on the circulation of the media or dissemination of their reports, forced publication of information, the imposition of obstacles to the free flow of news, and restrictions on the activities and movements of journalists directly contradict freedom of the press
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE IAPA RESOLVES
to urge Congress to remove this prohibition against the media and to reject and refuse to consider any initiative that would restrict, limit or regulate the fundamental rights concerning news and opinion. that are established in the Colombian Constitution and international human rights treaties.
