Impunity - Mexico I

WHEREAS Luis Roberto Cruz Martínez, a reporter for the magazine Multicosas, of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, was murdered in reprisal for his journalistic work WHEREAS Oscar Jiménez Gonzalés, the presumed murderer, was arrested and later escaped under suspicious circumstances WHEREAS Principle 4 of the Declaration of Chapultepec condemns the murder of journalists, violence of any type and impunity for the culprits because such acts severely inhibit freedom of expression and of the press and must be investigated promptly and punished harshly THE IAPA BOARD OF DIRECTORS RESOLVES to demand an immediately solution to this crime that affects freedom of the press in Tamaulipas to demand of the governor of Tamaulipas, Tomás Yarrington Ruvalcaba, that he apply the full force of the law to those who allowed the escape of the presumed murderer of reporter Cruz Martínez.
