WHEREAS
several countries put legal restrictions on the publication of public opinion polls before elections there is no scientific evidence that publication of opinion polls influences the outcome of the vote the Canadian Supreme Court declared a law restricting publication of election polls unconstitutional
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE IAPA RESOLVES
to reiterate its condemnation of governments that allow restrictions on the publication of election polls to the detriment of freedom of expression to urge governments and legislators to work for the repeal of this type of law.
