investigations of the criminal attacks on the press - in particular, the murder of the managing editor of
El Pais of Calí, Gerardo Bedoya - have been characterized by a lack of results he management of the assignment of radio and television licenses has provoked justified protests against favoritism and traffic of official influences
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE lAPA RESOLVES
to urge the president of the Republic to fulfill the commitments made to the lAPA to guarantee security for the free practice of journalism and to make it a reality that violent acts against journalists do not go unpunished to ask the executive branch to refrain from promotion of measures that tend to shore up media with a pro-government attitude, in detriment to pluralism and journalistic independence, which are indispensable to democracy.
