WHEREAS
the Executive Branch vetoed a bill to resolve the legal
problems that still prevent Editora Panama America from fully
using its property
the Legislative Assembly overrode the presidential veto
the bill is now before the Supreme Court for a ruling on
constitutional issues raised by the Executive Branch
THE 48th GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE IAPA RESOLVES
to express its regret at the negative attitude of the Executive
Branch toward the fair recommendations of the legitimate
owners of Editora Panama America
to congratulate the Legislature for having approved, overriding
a presidential veto, the bill that would resolve once and
for all the prolonged injustice to Editora Panama America
to await with hope the ruling of the Supreme Court in the
case of Editora Panama America, which has been before the
Inter American Press Association for 24 years.
