PARAGUAY
WHEREAS
the Paraguayan congress is considering introducing a
press law
the press and journalists are already governed by laws that
regulate economic activity and the citizens in general
a press law can be used to create obstacles for journalists
and restrict the information to which the public should have access
the position of the lAP A has consistently been to oppose
such press laws
The 48TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE IAPA RESOLVES
to ask both houses of the Paraguayan Congress to reject
any attempt to create a press law.
