OFFICIAL ADVERTISING WHEREAS several governments in Latin America use the purchase of advertising by the government or ~s agencies as an instrument of pressure to punish or reward the media The 48TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE IAPA RESOLVES to repudiate the discriminatory purchase of official advertising as a means to pressure or reward the press to maintain a state of alert in order to make the appropriate protest whenever this type of threat to press freedom might occur,curtailing such freedom in a subtle or disguised form.
