MIAMI, Florida (November 14, 2017)—The Inter American Press Association's Scholarship Fund today announced the opening of the period for journalists of the Americas to apply for scholarships for post-graduate studies at universities in Latin America, North America and the Caribbean.

The scholarships, worth $20,000 each, cover one university academic year. Those applying must be journalists, aged between 21 and 35 and be fluent in the language of the country where they would go to study. The scholarship also provides airfare from the country of residence to the site of the chosen university.

"We invite young journalists to submit their entry and take advantage of this opportunity of professional training," declared the chair of the IAPA Scholarship Fund Board of Directors, María Catalina Saieh, of Consorcio Periodístico S.A. (Copesa) of Santiago, Chile.

The deadline for submitting entries is January 31, 2018. Those being awarded scholarships will be chosen during the IAPA's Midyear Meeting in March in Medellín, Colombia.

Since the establishment of the Scholarship Fund in 1954 the IAPA program has benefited more than 400 journalists of the Americas.
