Journalist and Colombian writer, was Director of El Tiempo. Graduated in Philosophy and Letters at the University of Los Andes, and specialization in Political Science at the University of Munich. In 1984 he joined the Peace Commission, created by President Belisario Betancur and was special emissary of the government of his brother Juan Manuel Santos, for the beginning of dialogues with the FARC
