IAPA announces finalists for the Excellence in Journalism 2022 Contest

Miami (April 25, 2022) - The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) announces the finalists of the 2022 edition of the Awards for Excellence in Journalism. More than a thousand media professionals from North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Spain participated.

These journalistic works were finalists in one of the 14 categories of the contest. A jury made up of the IAPA Awards Committee members will choose the winners in each category. The first prize in each category is US$2,000 (two thousand U.S. dollars).

The IAPA Awards Committee president, Leonor Mulero, Grupo Ferré Rangel Media, San Juan, Puerto Rico, emphasized that "the selected works are evidence of the high-quality journalism, in different media platforms, in the American hemisphere, and Spain. In announcing this fantastic group of finalist journalists, the IAPA reiterates the importance of a free press to defend democratic values.

The awards ceremony will occur during the IAPA's Annual Assembly in Madrid, Spain, from October 27 to 30. The winners generally are announced in August.
