Deadline to apply for the Excellence in Journalism 2024 contest is May 31

IAPA's annual contest consists of 16 categories.

Miami (April 29, 2024)- The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) reminds that there is only one month left for the deadline to receive applications for the Excellence in Journalism 2024 contest, aimed at media and communication professionals from North America, Latin America, the Caribbean and Spain.

Only journalistic pieces actually published during the period between June 1, 2023 and May 31, 2024 in a daily newspaper, weekly, magazine or online publication will be considered as contestants. The closing date for submitting entries is May 31, 2024.

A jury composed of members of the IAPA Awards Committee will select the winner in each category. The first prize in each category is US$2,000 (two thousand U.S. dollars). The awards ceremony will be held during the 80th General Assembly in Córdoba, Argentina, in October 2024.

Two new categories have been included in this edition: Migration Journalism Claudio Paolillo (sponsored by La Silla Rota, Mexico) and Solutions Journalism (sponsored by La Prensa, Río Bamba, Ecuador). See here all the categories and the Contestant's Guide.

It is not necessary to be a member of IAPA to participate.
