Miami (December 17, 2025) – The Inter American Press Association (IAPA), Proyecto Desconfío of Argentina, and the Foundation for Journalism of Bolivia announce the sixth edition of the Global Summit on Disinformation, a free international event to be held online on May 27 and 28, 2026.
The virtual gathering will once again be held in a trilingual format (Spanish, English, and Portuguese) and will bring together journalists, researchers, fact-checkers, academics, technologists, government representatives, and civil society organizations to analyze the global impact of disinformation and to strengthen joint strategies to confront it.
Since its first edition in 2021, the Summit has become an international reference space, promoting the exchange of experiences and evidence of best practices that strengthen information integrity. Previous editions addressed topics such as the crisis of trust in journalism, new patterns of disinformation, the role of artificial intelligence, the sustainability of independent journalism, and the development of technologies with a civic purpose.
The 2026 edition will build on this trajectory with a renewed agenda focused on the most relevant current trends.
Over two days, specialists and leading voices will participate in panels, conferences, workshops, demonstrations, and innovation roundtables, with open registration for participants from any country. The event will offer simultaneous interpretation and will be supported by a broad global network of partners.
“Disinformation is one of the greatest threats to democracy and freedom of expression worldwide. In the face of this challenge, it is essential to strengthen international cooperation, quality journalism, and the responsible use of technology. The Global Summit on Disinformation is a key space for building collective and sustainable responses,” said Carlos Lauría, Executive Director of the Inter American Press Association (IAPA).
Adrián Pino, Executive Director of Proyecto Desconfío and one of the event’s founders, stated that “the Summit is a meeting point for those who work every day in defense of the right to information. Disinformation is a global phenomenon, and we can only confront it through diverse perspectives, cooperation, and shared solutions.”
In its five previous editions, the Summit welcomed more than 8,000 participants from all five continents and brought together over 130 international experts, consolidating a community that continues to grow stronger each year.
The full agenda and registration opening will be announced soon.
