Miami (August 20, 2026) – The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) announces that it is presenting Pilar Gil, Chief Executive Officer of PRISA Media, with the 2026 Executive of the Year Award, in recognition of her leadership, strategic vision, and outstanding contribution to the development and transformation of one of the leading Spanish-language media groups.

As Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of PRISA Media, Gil has advanced a strategy that combines the strength of historic journalistic brands with innovation, the expansion of new audiences, and the pursuit of sustainable business models. Under her leadership, PRISA Media has strengthened its presence in strategic Latin American markets and promoted new partnerships and distribution platforms.

Gil has an extensive career at PRISA, which she joined in 2000 and where she previously served as Chief Financial Officer. She also serves on the boards of directors of Santillana, El País, and the newspaper AS.

“Pilar Gil represents a style of leadership that combines experience, business vision, and adaptability at a decisive moment for the media industry,” said IAPA President Pierre Manigault. “Her management demonstrates that innovation and transformation can advance hand in hand with strong journalistic brands and a long-term strategy to strengthen the sustainability and reach of journalism.”

The IAPA Executive of the Year Award recognizes media industry leaders who, through their careers, management capabilities, and innovation, make significant contributions to the development and strengthening of the sector.

The award ceremony will take place during the IAPA’s 82nd General Assembly, to be held October 22–25, 2026, at the Hilton Bogotá Hotel in Bogotá, Colombia.
