The IAPA Announces Finalists for its 2025 Excellence in Journalism Awards

Miami (August 4, 2025) – The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) announces the finalists for the 2025 edition of its Excellence in Journalism Awards, which drew entries from journalists and media outlets across Latin America, the Caribbean, North America, and Spain.

The works were selected from among hundreds of submissions that competed in the contest’s 12 categories. The jury, composed of members of the IAPA’s Awards Committee, will announce the winners and honorable at the end of August.

María Lorente, chair of the IAPA Awards Committee and regional director for Latin America at Agence France-Presse (AFP), noted, “The entries submitted this year reaffirm that, in the face of political, technological, and economic challenges, quality journalism remains a vital pillar of our democracies.”

At the same time, the IAPA will also announce the recipients of the Grand Prize for Press Freedom, the Grand Friend of the Press, Executive of the Year, and Digital Transformation awards.

The award ceremony will be held during the IAPA’s 81st General Assembly, which will take place in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, from October 16 to 19, 2025.
