WHEREAS
news organizations have newly protested against the continuing existence of Article 25 of the Advertising Law which grants judges discretionary powers to ban the dissemination of information without any time limit this matter is dealt with satisfactorily in the draft bill of the Law of Freedom of Information and Opinion, but problems still arise and indeed are aggravated in restrictive provisions contained in the
proposed new Criminal Procedures Code, which introduce oral trials in Chile
THE IAPA GENERAL ASSEMBLY RESOLVES
to call upon the Chilean Congress to repeal Article 25 of the Advertising Law and delete Articles 105, 262 and 363 of the proposed new Criminal Procedures Code, which would seriously restrict freedom of information.
