CRIMES AGAINST JOURNALISTS WHEREAS at least three journalists were murdered in the last six months in Brazil and Guatemala Raildo Barros was shot and killed in Brazil two journalists in Guatemala, José Yantuch and Julio René Lemus, were murdered by unidentified assailants in separate incidents the most barbaric form of the suppression of press freedom is the murder of journalists, a fact that deserves the strongest repudiation of society in general and the lAPA in particular THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE IAPA RESOLVES to demand that the Brazilian authorities solve the murder of journalist Raildo Barros and bring those responsible to trial for their crime to demand that the Guatemalan authorities solve the murders of journalists José Yantuch and Julio René Lemus and that those responsible be brought to justice.
