Miami (June 22, 2023) The best soccer player of all time, Leonel Messi, will debut on July 21 with Inter of Miami. On that day, the Inter American Press Association (IAPA) will close SIPConnect 2023, the hemispheric conference on digital media and services, including presentations and panels on marketing, audiences, and new revenues.
"We will have an upscale closing, with news media from around the world converging on Miami," said IAPA's Press Institute Committee President Ernesto Kraiselburd. "Throughout the week," he added, "SIPConnect participants will experience the Miami party around Leonel Messi's debut."
"At a time when media sustainability is in crisis, we can learn from Major League Soccer (MLS), Inter Miami, David Beckham, and digital marketing opportunities... how to reflate brands, engage and connect with audiences, generate subscriptions, and create new revenue streams," said Kraiselburd, editor of the Argentine newspaper El Día de la Plata.
One of the keynote speakers at SIPConnect 2023, July 19-21, will be Claudio Cabrera, Vice President of Audiences and Newsroom Strategy at The Athletic, The New York Times 100 percent online sports daily with more than two million subscribers and one of the highest retention rates in the industry.
IAPA Executive Director Ricardo Trotti said: "If there is one thing I am known for in this industry, it is that at the end of every IAPA event, I end up raffling off a car, which is not true, but not fake news either, it is a game with the audience who playfully accepts it and remains committed to the activity."
