Miami (August 21, 2023) – The verification of news content in the era of Generative Artificial Intelligence will be one of the thematic axes of the Global Summit on Disinformation that will be organized by the Inter American Press Association (IAPA) and the Mistrust Project (Proyecto Desconfío) of Argentina.
The Summit, to be held on September 27 and 28 in a virtual format, is open to the public, and registration is free through this link. The organizers recommend the participation of academics and university students.
"One of the great challenges of modern journalism is to know the most effective strategies to reach audiences with reliable information and, also, how to turn the media into effective tools to offer verified content," said the president of the IAPA, Michael Greenspon, Global Head of Licensing and Print Innovation for The New York Times.
The coordinator of the Mistrust Project, Adrián Pino, assured that this new edition occurs "at a crucial moment in the fight against disinformation and will allow us to share experiences and understand what is working and what is not."
The five thematic axes of the Summit are electoral disinformation; building effective verified content distribution strategies; building news quality indicators; verification in the age of Generative Artificial Intelligence, and media literacy in the age of Tik-Tok.
More than 600 participants from 40 countries on four continents have signed up. The Global Summit on Disinformation is accompanied this year by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), the Chilean National Press Association, GABO Foundation, DW Akademie, Infoveritas, Colombian Association of Information Media (AMI), Association of Argentine Journalistic Entities (ADEPA), Medianálisis, Bolivia Verifica and the Kimbertly Green Latin America and Caribbean Center at the Florida International University (FIU).
