Miami (June 16, 2026) – The Inter American Press Association (IAPA), with the support of the Google News Initiative (GNI), announces the launch of AI Video Lab 2026 (AIVL), a regional initiative aimed at accelerating the audiovisual transformation of news media through the strategic use of video and artificial intelligence.
Following a rigorous selection process that evaluated dozens of highly technical applications, a total of 41 leading media organizations from 11 countries in the region—Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela—were selected to participate in the program.
“We are excited to celebrate our fourth collaboration with IAPA to continue supporting media organizations in the region in their digital transformation. This edition focuses on video, convinced that it is currently the most dynamic and fastest-growing format, offering a strategic opportunity to connect with new audiences,” said Alejandra Brambila, News Partner Manager at Google.
“This program provides newsrooms with practical tools to strengthen their audiovisual capabilities, expand their audiences, and explore new opportunities for sustainable growth. We appreciate the commitment of the Google News Initiative and the work of Marktube in making this initiative possible, which will contribute to the development of quality journalism in Latin America,” said Carlos Lauría, Executive Director of IAPA.
The selected organizations will participate in an intensive acceleration program structured in three stages: specialized training, personalized consulting, and access to strategic resources to design and implement audiovisual transformation and digital innovation projects.
The program seeks to contribute to the evolution of digital storytelling formats and the ethical and efficient adoption of artificial intelligence in video production, editing, and distribution workflows.
This program not only aims to provide newsrooms with advanced operational capabilities, but also seeks to safeguard the integrity of journalism by strategically integrating emerging technologies.
The program’s design and operational execution are led by Marktube Group, a firm specializing in digital acceleration, which has developed a robust curriculum ranging from technical mastery of video platforms and emerging storytelling trends to automation and the implementation of AI solutions designed to improve audiovisual efficiency.
“The true value of this program lies in the combination of rigorous execution and access to the most advanced knowledge available in the industry. We have ensured the participation of top-level experts, complemented by a detailed methodology and close follow-up with each media outlet to guarantee that theory translates into real impact for the press in Latin America,” said Ezequiel Arbusti, CEO of Marktube Group.
The activities of AI Video Lab 2026 will officially begin this week, launching a work plan that will conclude in December of this year with the presentation of the projects developed.
