Miami (May 20, 2025) — The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) is pleased to announce the participation of renowned figures in journalism and technological innovation at SIPConnect 2025, its annual media digital transformation conference, to be held July 16–18 in Miami.

With a program reflecting the dynamism and challenges of today’s media ecosystem, SIPConnect 2025 will feature influential leaders such as Dale Anglin, Director of Press Forward, an initiative channeling multimillion-dollar philanthropic funds to strengthen local and community media; Miguel Ángel Oliver, President of the international news agency EFE; and Daniel Coronell, President of News at Televisa/Univision, one of the most influential Spanish-language news organizations in the Americas.

Also joining will be Marta Planells, Vice President of Digital News and Streaming at NBCUniversal Telemundo; Mauricio Cabrera, founder of Story Baker and a leading voice in content consumption trends; Carlos Salas, Deputy Director of El Comercio (Peru); and Gerardo Castilla, Chief Product Officer at La Vanguardia (Mexico), who will share their experiences with new strategies involving the use of artificial intelligence.

Prior to the start of the conference, on July 16, Mariana Alvarado, trainer for the Google News Initiative in Mexico, Central America, and Colombia, will offer an exclusive workshop on NotebookLM, Google’s generative AI tool designed to enhance the work of journalists and newsrooms.

SIPConnect 2025 will once again be a unique space for learning, networking, and dialogue, where participants will explore the opportunities that technology, artificial intelligence, and collaborative models offer to ensure the sustainability of journalism.

The emergence of AI tools brings both challenges and opportunities: it raises ethical, and accuracy concerns and impacts journalistic work, but also opens doors to optimizing processes, personalizing content, and expanding information reach.

SIPConnect 2025 will provide a platform to explore concrete solutions to these challenges, promote strategic partnerships, and strengthen the digital capabilities of the media ecosystem.

Registration and hotel booking are now open through the following link.

Now in its eleventh edition, SIPConnect continues to position itself as a vital forum for sharing innovative solutions to the challenges facing the journalism industry.

The IAPA is a non-profit organization dedicated to defending and promoting freedom of the press and expression in the Americas. It comprises more than 1,300 publications from the western hemisphere and is based in Miami, Florida, United States.
