Last Month to Submit Entries for the 2025 IAPA Awards for Excellence in Journalism

The competition features 14 categories, including Sustainability and Digital Transformation, reflecting the evolving challenges of modern journalism

Miami (April 30, 2025) – The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) reminds media outlets and journalists that this is the final month to submit entries for the 2025 IAPA Awards for Excellence in Journalism, which honor the most outstanding journalistic work in the hemisphere.

Submissions will be accepted until May 31, for content published between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025, in Spanish, English, or Portuguese.

The competition features 14 categories, including Sustainability and Digital Transformation, reflecting the evolving challenges of modern journalism. Eligible entries include content published in newspapers, weeklies, magazines, news agencies, digital media, radio, or television in Latin America, North America, the Caribbean, and Spain.

A jury composed of members of the IAPA Awards Committee will select the winners. Most first-place awards will include a $2,000 cash prize. The awards ceremony will be held in October 2025, during the 81st IAPA General Assembly in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

In addition to the 14 categories, the Executive of the Year, the Grand Friend of the Press, and the Grand Prize for Press Freedom will be awarded. The latter honors individuals or organizations with a notable track record in defending this fundamental right.

Participation is open to all journalists and media outlets, and IAPA membership is not required. To submit your work, click here, where you can also access the full call for entries and the contestant guide.
