The fifth edition of this free online event will take place on September 17–18

23 de abril de 2025 - 10:22

Miami (April 23, 2025) – The Inter American Press Association (IAPA), Proyecto Desconfío (Argentina), and Fundación para el Periodismo (Bolivia) announce the fifth edition of the Global Summit on Disinformation, an international and free online event to be held on September 17 and 18, 2025. The summit will bring together journalists, researchers, fact-checkers, academics, government officials, and civil society representatives to analyze the global impact of disinformation and discuss coordinated strategies to address it.

Since its inception in 2020, the Summit has grown to become a key reference space in Latin America and beyond, promoting the exchange of experiences, tools, and best practices for a more informed and critical citizenry. This edition will delve deeper into issues such as artificial intelligence, political polarization, platform regulation, and media literacy.

Over the course of two days, leading experts and thought leaders will participate in panels, workshops, and live interviews. Registration is free and open to participants worldwide. The event will offer simultaneous translation in English and, for the first time, in Portuguese.

Carlos Lauría, executive director of the IAPA, stated: “The Summit is a unique opportunity to coordinate efforts and strengthen alliances in the face of one of the greatest challenges of our time. Defending truth and transparency requires collective commitment and a regional vision with global impact.”

“This is a space where voices working every day to defend the right to information come together. Disinformation knows no borders, which is why we need global, coordinated responses,” said Adrián Pino, Executive Director of Proyecto Desconfío.

In its four previous editions, the summit has brought together more than 6,000 attendees from 45 countries across five continents, who heard from over 100 prominent speakers.

The full agenda and registration details will be announced in the coming weeks. Save the date and follow updates at cumbredesinformacion.com.
