Another prominent voice will be Jineth Bedoya Lima, the renowned Colombian journalist, gender editor at El Tiempo and international advocate for human rights and press freedom. The Assembly will address the most relevant issues for contemporary journalism, including press freedom, media sustainability, editorial innovation and the impact of artificial intelligence on content production and newsrooms.
One of the most significant moments of the gathering will be dedicated to commemorating the 30th anniversary of Gabriel García Márquez’s historic speech, in which he described journalism as “the best profession in the world” during the IAPA General Assembly held in Los Angeles in 1996. The commemoration will include a dialogue with Jaime Abello, president of the Gabo Foundation, on the enduring relevance of that legacy for new generations of journalists, together with Rosental Calmon Alves, director of the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas at the University of Texas at Austin.
Attendees will also be able to benefit from preferential rates at the Hilton Bogotá Hotel, the official venue of the Assembly, located in one of the city’s most dynamic areas, as well as special discounts on Avianca of up to 15% on Classic fares and 20% on Flex and Business fares.
